LINUS!

Tonight I was really impressed with the local band Girlfriends. They seemed to have everything really well orchestrated and balanced. Played a really good show tonight at Next Door. Super enjoyed the roots reggae between bands. Always fun to play shows at Next Door. Dipped into some nice house music at SOHO with DJ Kentaro. Might go into the studio tomorrow to do some light construction. Installing security bars. Happy bday Moani.

First a quick explanation behind these photos. We played a show the night before. Everyone went out afterward and woke up at 6am to get to Hawaii Kai to take these shots at AD’s. I’m surprised we all caught the sunrise. Super stoked on these preliminary shots Justin from Human Hand sent us. If this is what the B roll came out like, I can’t wait to see the photos Art took. Thanks again Justin and Art for taking the time to hang out with us and snap these shots. Luckily the L popped after we took all the shots! Can’t wait to practice this weekend before the show at Next Door on Saturday.

We’re currently rehearsing 7 songs endlessly. We need to iron out all the kinks in the orchestration before we head into the studio to get these songs on disc. In the meantime I’ve got a backlog of songs brewing. Can’t wait to practice this weekend. Still in the old studio but planning to hang out at the new studio after the show on Saturday. Quite a day so far. Spend the morning and afternoon constructed sound panels for the studio. Click on the pic for a closer look. They came out really nice! Next up, a quick bite before rocking the house at Red Lion (University) @ 10 pm. We are going to play 8 songs or so. And perhaps most importantly, we are finally selling our brand new album, “White Marks on a White Wall”! So come down, listen to the jams, then buy the record and keep rocking in your car, home, sleep. Not to be missed!

Played a show this weekend at Anna Bananas and wanted to post about the process. Wasn’t sure what to expect from our output. We rehearsed the entire set a couple of times at the last practice. Jun’s in Japan so he’s been out of the loop for the past week. At the last show I put as much effort as possible into keeping the flow under control. The feedback after our set was enough to indicate that the process is working. Tons of good feedback from our last show. Looking forward to going downtown tonight with Nik to check out the new LINUS studio in the Blaisdell Hotel. I’ve heard that the place is haunted. I ran into a few late night tenants, each one offering a different ghost story.

Checked on the UPS tracking number I got from Discmakers. The CDs have arrived on the island. According to the tracking number 4 boxes of the new LINUS CD WMWW are sitting in the UPS distribution center near the airport. Rather than coordinate my work schedule around the dubious delivery time, I called UPS and requested that they keep the CDs at the distribution center so I could pick them up after work. Getting tons of show requests. Need to coordinate the upcoming shows / LINUS HQ repairs / layout / gear setup. All in all, progress is progress. Still moving forward in 2010.

Much Mahalo to the many friends/fans that turned up this past Saturday at Anna Bananas. The vibe was jovial, and the show was memorable. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did! Some of my fellow EMBA classmates came out in support as well; very cool.

With 1 month in the books, 2010 is shaping up to be an epic Linus year. Today we get the keys to our new studio space! Before/After pics to follow (once we whip it into shape).

And last but not least… Our 2nd CD is arriving this week!!! The minute those boxes show up, we’ll be sure to post about it (with photos). Stayed tuned.

Working on a few new songs. Going into the studio in a few weeks to begin recording our 3rd CD. Expecting a box full of our latest CD (still unreleased) to arrive at my house in a few days. Scrambling to get the CDs so we can submit our masterpiece to win a Na Hoku award. Stoked on the new studio space. Planning to accompany Nik to check it out on February 1st. We’re playing at Anna Banana’s on January 30th at 11pm. Planning to hang out and go out after the show.
